One of America’s leading review panels has described One Year One

Night by SL Roman as having  ‘top-notch characterisation’.

The Literary Titan has more than sixty thousand followers and has

praised the first work by the British writing pair,

‘Despite the book’s discussion of serious themes, it is an easy and

entertaining read with a subtle touch of humour.’

The young adult novel is to be published in N. America this summer.

It will be distributed to libraries in the U.S. and Canada and

digital sales are hoped for in Europe, India and South Africa.

Meanwhile the pair behind the story have been talking about the

inspiration for their creation which is based on the story of an unlucky

evacuee boy in WW2 in England.

Sarah Onions learnt about the true story when she was teaching in Surrey and

then she and Laura Meloni Bywaters turned it into fiction based on a teenage diary from

a turbulent time. Now they are working on a second novel featuring the

leading character teenager Annie.
