Fans of listening to stories can hear the young adult novel read by actresss Laura Castiel.

The wartime story of an unlucky boy which first appeared in print was the brainchild of Laura Meloni Bywaters and Sarah Onions. They chose the pen name of SL Roman to reflect Laura’s home city, Rome. It was published in North America and elsewhere this August.
The actress recorded the story for the audio listening service, with little changes – just a couple of alterations where the English was too specific and not clear to a wider international audience.
Castiel read all the voices of the different characters and the male characters were particularly strong where she gave Cribbles a London accent and the character of Dad was broadcast with a slight northern accent.
It’s not the first time that one half of SL Roman – Sarah Onions – has had a production on Audible.
She wrote a book with her family about her father’s journalistic career and his second daughter who was seriously disabled.
Don’t Bring Lulu; Her Family’s Tale of Trial and Triumph by Ron, Doris and Sarah Onions was produced by former LBC Radio engineer John Bolton.
The voice of her father was read by Sarah’s ex-husband Christopher Terry, a former reporter for Sky Sports. The voice of Doris Onions was read by Amanda Bolton who had worked for Radio Trent and the Central Office of Information.
Sarah read her own words.

Note to editor. SL Roman is the pen-name of Sarah Onions and Laura Meloni Bywaters who both live in the borough of Kingston in SW London. Sarah was born in Brighton in southern England and Laura was born in Rome. Pix here belong to S.Onions.
