I’ve been looking at the figures from a KDP Amazon spreadsheet for the UK edition of our first YA novel. It’s great to get a wider look at the sales and also examine some of the granular detail, albeit as a beginner in publishing.
Looking across the tax year shows that we sold more copies than I thought – of the UK edition.
The number of paperbacks sold just outstrips sales of the Kindle edition.
Wearing another hat, as the UK publicist of the story of a wartime romance and an unlucky boy – I had the chance to appear on an internet radio show run by DJ Neil Long.
I worked with the former Capital Radio DJ when we both worked at Radio Jackie, covering S.W. London – and we’ve kept in touch.
His internet shows runs for an hour at lunchtime twice a week so that was a great chance to talk about One Year One Night by SL Roman and I was on the air for 45 minutes.

My next step is to prepare for a book tour of New England in the U.S. later this year from November 28 until 18 December. That will be to promote the U.S. edition published by Red Chair Press. I already have a talk lined up at the BookLove bookshop in Plymouth in Massachusetts.

And I hope to return to my old school on E. 79th street in Manhattan to talk to the children about our story – more than 50 years on.
Note to editor. SL Roman is the pen-name of Sarah Onions and Laura Meloni Bywaters who both live in the borough of Kingston in SW London. Sarah was born in Brighton in southern England and Laura was born.
