British authors SL Roman have received a royalty for One Year One Night, their first novel.
The writers have sold nearly 40 books this year through their American publisher Red Chair Press.
SL Roman otherwise known as Laura Meloni and Sarah Onions achieved success stateside in 2023 when they got an advance on International Women’s Day.
The royal backing came later when Sarah sent a copy of the historical romance to Her Majesty Queen Camilla who described it as a ‘remarkable achievement’.
It’s the story of an unlucky boy who was evacuated from Brighton in WW2 and is then cared for by our heroine teenager Annie.
She records her feelings and emotions in a diary where the reader meets a range of colourful and sometimes strange characters.
The reviews, all very positive, range from Kirkus in New York City to Literary Titans.
